Glodon Solution Awarded as Global Service Best Practice at Int'l Trade Fair
Glodon's overseas project case was selected as one of the global service best practices on September 3 at the 2022 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), the biggest comprehensive fair in global trade in services.
The awarded case named "MagiCAD Adopted in MEP Design for Global Projects" includes two projects from MagiCAD, a Glodon company. Its election shows the recognition of CIFTIS that it represents the trend and achievements of global service trade and has a leading role in new services, models, and businesses.
The six-day CIFTIS this year features greater internationalization, with the participation of over 2,400 companies, including more than 400 Global Fortune 500 companies and industry-leading enterprises. Its recognition demonstrates Glodon's ability to serve global clients with the strategy of the digital building.
Better Service, Higher Efficiency
As a digital transformation enabler in the construction industry, Glodon has launched three types of products overseas: digital design, project management, and digital cost estimation. Among them, the digital design product mainly focuses on installation design, especially, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) design and its in-depth design. The flagship software MagiCAD aims to help designers improve design efficiency and analysis efficiency. Ideally, the overall work efficiency of designers can be increased by more than 80%, and the modeling efficiency can be increased by more than 50%.
Over the years, MagiCAD continues to deepen cooperation on digital transformation with core enterprise customers in northern Europe and improve its ability to serve more customers in the UK, Germany, Italy, and other countries and regions. It has also helped clients mitigate the pandemic's impact with innovative authorization modes and upgraded online services.
Wider Adoptions, Fewer Problems
The projects included in the case are Helsinki Central Library Oodi in Finland and Extremely Large Telescope in Chile, all adopting MagiCAD solutions.
Building information modeling (BIM) played an essential part in the Oodi project as it enabled close collaboration between designers from different fields. Due to the architecture of Oodi, the space allocations for MEP systems rarely had regular shapes. However, modelling allowed the systems to be fitted in spaces that sometimes were highly irregular.
Ramboll used MagiCAD software in the MEP design for the Oodi project. In particular, MagiCAD's calculation functions proved useful and helped verify the functionality of the systems designed. It utilized MagiCAD's features related to flow technology, pressure loss calculation, ventilation duct flow technology and noise technology. It also used MagiCAD's basic features to check and balance the networks. With MagiCAD, designers can reliably verify that the system is working as it should.
The European Southern Observatory (ESO) is
constructing the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT). It will be the largest
telescope of its kind ever built. Digierre3 worked with MagiCAD to model all
the engineering systems using the vast BIM object library and test and
optimize design using MagiCAD's calculations function.
MagiCAD's BIM objects are modelled from
physical products to a high level of detail, with correct dimensions and
technical data provided by the manufacturer. The technical values are always
present in the model, enabling accurate calculations during design. With
MagiCAD the designer can calculate while designing and compare different
alternatives to achieve the best possible optimization for the MEP systems.
MagiCAD provides integrated engineering calculations for Ventilation, Piping,
Electrical, and Sprinkler systems.
