Digital Building Platform Drives Upgrading of Construction Industry
Digital Built World Summit, held in Sydney on 23-24 May by FuturePlace, is the world's premier event for executives in the AEC, Smart City, Construction and Infrastructure space focused on improving digital business outcomes, including strategic innovation, connected assets, sustainable construction, user experience, and optimization of capital planning for large assets.
The summit was themed on leveraging
digital technology to create a smart, responsive, sustainable and autonomous
built world, which attracted over 300 attendees and presentations from over 75
leading global speakers.

"Data needs to be trustworthy, to be accountable, to be enough to help facilitate the decision, and has to be updated in real time," said Mr. Pierpaolo Franco, Glodon's Vice President. He gave an online speech on the topic of Data in Digital Building Platform at the summit.

In a world defined mainly by data and algorithms, the automatic flow of data can enable the industry to resolve the uncertainty of complex systems, meet the individualized market demands, solve the complex conditions of production process, provide diversified products and services, and promote the ecology of industrial cooperation and collaboration.
It will also support the comprehensive interconnection, flexible supply, and efficient allocation of all factors, industrial chains, and value chains, and promote the digital transformation of production organization mode, business operation logic, and value creation mechanism.
Glodon has released an industry strategy of promoting industrial transformation and upgrading through information technologies, including BIM, cloud computing, big data, IoT, mobile Internet and AI. Relying on the advanced theory and method of lean construction, it integrates personnel, processes, data, technology and business systems together to make the whole life cycle of and all elements and parties related to building digital, online and intelligent and build a new platform and ecosystem for every project as well as the relevant enterprise and industry.
The Digital Building Platform was introduced as the
"digital infrastructure" to promote the transformation of the
building industry. It is based on the engineering Internet of Things and builds
a building industry Internet platform driven by engineering software and data,
empowering all parties to realize digital intelligence management and
decision-making.
With accurate and real-time data, the Digital Building Platform can fulfil its roles as the foundation of the digital production line, the bridge between physical and digital, the match between supply and demand, and an effective digital project management centre, and will benefit throughout the asset lifecycle of design, construction and operation.
The opportunity during the design phase is to create simulations of how the asset will operate and how end-users will use it, from traffic flow analysis to occupancy to energy use. By starting with simulations that can be validated in the actual asset, design intent can be carried forward and iterated with actual data once the asset is operational.
For construction, data in the Digital Building Platform will enhance collaboration between all stakeholders, reduce rework and improve safety and security. When it comes to the benefit of the operation, data help speed up decision-making, ensure more efficient processes, optimize physical use, contribute positively to sustainability, improve communication and transform the mindset.
Many industry-leading viewpoints and topics were introduced at this summit, such as digital visions for business frameworks supporting the cognitive Digital Twin; Digital Twin ecosystems; Digital Twin that drives collaboration and unlocks vital insights across the asset lifecycle; Digital Twin project outcomes for water utility asset managers. These pioneering ideas brought more cutting-edge industry technologies that are ready to change the whole AEC industry.?Contact us to find out more about the Digital Built World Summit.
